VW CEO Confirms Plans for a New Midsize SUV for the U.S.

In the U.S. Volkswagen’s SUV lineup only consists of the compact Tiguan and the larger Touareg, but it looks like there will soon be a new model to slot in between the two.

In the U.S. Volkswagen’s SUV lineup only consists of the compact Tiguan and the larger Touareg, but it looks like there will soon be a new model to slot in between the two. Volkswagen of America CEO Jonathan Browning recently told reporters that the automaker is currently looking at the idea of adding a new SUV to its lineup. “There’s a great opportunity for us for a mid-size SUV in the U.S.” He also stated that a mid-sized SUV would complete VW’s core portfolio.

The mid-sized SUV would fill the $20k price gap that currently exists between the Tiguan and Touareg. Browning did not provide any other details about when we will see the new SUV or even if it’s currently in development.
