The Toyota Tacoma pretty much owns the small truck market now with the death of the Ford Ranger right around the corner and the future of GM’s small pickups being uncertain. The current Tacoma has been around since 2005, so it’s obviously long overdue for a redesign. According to Toyota’s Group Vice President and brand manager Bob Carter, the Tacoma is going to get a redesign for the 2012 model year.

The 2012 Tacoma is going to get new styling inside and out, but it will keep the same engines and frame as the current model.

“It’s an important segment for us because it provides us with young customers,” Mr. Carter said.

The Tacoma is one of several new models that Toyota is planning on introducing, which also includes the 2012 Camry.
