Large gas guzzling SUVs have fallen out of fashion with buyers now downsizing to smaller and more efficient vehicles and it looks like Paris hates them as well. Paris is planning on implementing restrictions on gas-guzzling vehicles, which will likely include SUVs.
Denis Baupin, an environmental official in the mayor’s office recently stated that sport utility vehicles and old diesel cars will likely be the target of the upcoming restrictions. He even went on to say, ” “I’m sorry, but having a sport utility vehicle in a city makes no sense.”
Paris isn’t the only city looking to ban the dinosaurs aka large SUVs. Lyon, Genolble and Aix-en-Provence are also planning restrictions in late 2011 or 2012. City officials are still deciding how the restrictions will work and what type of vehicles will be restricted.
