The Toyota FT-86 is still not out (sadly), but there are rumors that Toyota is working on other models that will be based on the same platform. According to Road & Track, the next-generation Lexus IS will be based on a stretched version of the FT-86 platform.

Toyota boss Akio Toyoda wants to improve Toyota’s image with a renewed focus on sport, so the next IS is expected to be sportier than the current model. According to the latest reports the next IS, which isn’t due until 2014 will be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder and a 3.6L flat six-cylinder. Seems kinda fishy since neither of those engines are currently offered in the IS. The Lexus IS F will continue to be powered by a V8.
