Mitsubishi will reportedly end production of the Lancer Evolution later this year, which signals the end of the end of the Lancer Evolution’s current generation and it’s not known if a successor is in the works.
Mitsubishi is making a shift toward electrified cars and SUVs, which means that the end of the iconic Lancer Evolution. The latest version arrived in the U.S. in 2008 and according to one source, Mitsubishi has no plans to offer another all-wheel-drive “gasoline-powered sedan.” According to some rumors a successor to the Lancer Evolution could get a new hybrid powertrain, which spokeswoman Namie Koketsu also alluded to, “Mitsubishi Motors will explore the possibilities of high-performance models that incorporate electric vehicle technology.”

It’s not known when we could see a successor to the Lancer Evolution, but don’t expect to see anything for at least two years, since Mitsubishi is current focusing on SUVs and electrified models.
