MINI has announced a new generation of engines that will be offered starting in the next Cooper. The future MINI models will be powered by both three and four-cylinder engines. The new 1.5L three-cylinder will generate 134 horsepower, while the new 2.0L four-cylinder will put out 189 horsepower.
The new engines also feature TwinPower turbo technology, which are integrated into the exhaust manifold. MINI has also announced that the engines will be mated to new manual and automatic transmissions. The new manual transmission features a gear sensor which adapts the engine speed to shifting gears, while the automatic features an auto-start system to save fuel.

MINI will also introduce electrically adjustable dampers for the first time. The electric control of the damper valves will make it possible to vary the nature of responsiveness to uneven road surfaces. Two characteristic curves will be available for damper adjustment that can be activated at the flip of a switch. Depending on the driver’s preferences, a sporty drivetrain setting or something more balanced and comfortable can be selected.

The new MINI Cooper is going to be unveiled on November 18 and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2014.
