Mercedes-Benz may move production of the next-generation CLA to a Nissan plant in Mexico according to Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche. Zetsche told Automotive News that a decision could be decided as early as next year if production will move to Nissan’s plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, beginning in 2018.
CLA production for the current-generation will take place in Hungary, but Mercedes wants to move production to North America to reduce its exposure to currency fluctuations. If production does move to Nissan’s plant in Mexico, Nissan is going to expand the plant, which will also produce a new Infiniti model as well.
