Japan’s Holiday Auto magazine has received news that the RX-9 will go on sale just in time to celebrate Mazda’s 100th anniversary. It will also be shorter and look a bit different than the RX-Vision concept that debuted at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. According to the magazine, the RX-9 will be powered by a 1.6L twin-rotor turbocharged engine with around 400 horsepower. The power will be sent the rear wheels via a rear mounted transmission that will help the RX-9 achieve a near-perfect weight distribution.

Mazda hasn’t confirmed anything, but it’s expected that the RX-9 will debut as a concept at next year’s Tokyo Motor Show before the production version debuts in 2019.
