Lexus is one of the few luxury automakers that doesn’t offer a seven passenger crossover, but Lexus is currently working on fixing that. Lexus is reportedly planning on either releasing a new seven-passenger crossover or increasing the size of the RX 350 crossover to have three rows of seats.
“Third-row seating is the No. 1 issue we hear from dealers,” Lexus Division chief Jeff Bracken recently stated. “We feel like we’re missing a 35,000-units-a-year opportunity. We’re working hard to rectify that.”

The Lexus RX 350 shares its platform with the Toyota Highlander, which does offer three rows of seats, so Lexus could simply enlarge the next-gen RX 350. Unfortunately the next RX 350 isn’t expected to arrive until late 2015, since the focus now is on the launch of the smaller NX crossover.
Lexus has also reportedly trademarked the TX nameplate, which could be used for the new larger crossover that would be offered alongside the existing RX and NX models. The larger crossover isn’t expected to arrive until sometime in 2016.
