It is being reported that Land Rover is working on a new version of the Freelander/LR2 SUV. The new version will seat 7 passengers and will be sold alongside the 5 passenger version within 18 months. The new version is being designed to keep up with increasing competition in Europe where multi-seat SUVs and wagons are on the rise.

According to AutoExpress, the SUV will feature two removable seats behind the middle three passenger bench seat.

Land Rover’s larger LR3 (Discovery) SUV also offers three rows of seats, but it’s price has jumped up considerably from the previous model.

It is also being rumored that Land Rover is working on a new SUV that is smaller than the current LR2.
