Honda is reportedly working on three variants of the next-generation 2014 Honda Fit, which will debut by the end of next year. The new Fit will be offered as a hatchback, sedan and Honda is also working on a Fit-based crossover.

Honda is currently deciding if all three models will be sold in the U.S., but a shift toward small cars may increase demand for the Fit sedan. Ford, Hyundai and Nissan also offer sedan versions of their subcompacts.

Honda expects the Fit to become its fastest growing model with sales jumping to 200,000 units annually over the next four years. Honda is also building a new plant in Mexico for the Fit that is scheduled to open in 2014. The new plant will be able to produce up to 200,000 vehicles a year.
