The Honda Accord Crosstour debuted a year ago, but the model has failed to meet sales expectations. Honda originally hoped to sell 35,000 units a year, but then revised that number down to a goal of 30,000. Through November 2010 Honda has only sold 25,927 Crosstours and it’s not expected to meet its yearly sales goal.
Although Honda recently announced the death of the slow selling Element, Honda is not ready to give up on the Crosstour. “It’s still a work in progress,” said Chuck Schifsky, a Honda spokesman. “We’re not done yet in terms of building brand awareness.”
Most of the slow sales momentum can be blamed on polarizing styling. Most of the automotive press and public have dinged the Crosstour for being unattractive.
