A few weeks ago rumors started to circle that Honda is going to bring a Civic hatchback back to the U.S. and now Honda has sorta confirmed those rumors. Honda has announced that its UK plant will be the global production hub for the next Civic five-door hatchback and that it will be exported to key global markets.
Sadly Honda stopped short of confirming that it will be sold in the U.S. Honda will invest over £200 million into new, advanced production technologies and processes, further enhancing Honda’s European manufacturing facilities. This new contribution brings Honda’s total investment in HUM to over £2.2 billion since 1985.

Production of the CR-V will cease in the UK as production of the SUV moves to Honda of Canada Manufacturing, in Ontario.

Lets hope that when the Civic hatchback arrives next year, the Civic Type R is also part of the option list.
