GM invests $175 million to build the all-new 2016 Camaro

GM took the wraps off the all-new 2016 Chevy Camaro earlier this month and now it’s announced a new $175 million investment that it’s making to build it. GM is going to invest the money in its Lansing Grand River plant for new tooling and equipment to build the new Camaro.

The facility improvements include three new paint systems for Camaro-specific colors: Summit White, Bright Yellow, and Red Hot. The investment also includes installation of two robotic framers, which allow better dimensional control to provide a more precise drive experience.

The all-new sixth generation Camaro switches to a new platform that helps it drop around 200 pounds. New engine options include a 275-hp 2.0L turbo and a new 335-hp 3.6L V6. The 6.2L V8 returns in the Camaro SS and now generates 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft. of torque – making it the most powerful Camaro SS ever.
