Ford’s all new Ford Focus will be here early next year and although Ford has unveiled the sedan and five-door versions of the Focus a three-door or coupe version was missing.

Rumors are beginning to circulate that Ford is working on a coupe version of the new Focus that will be unveiled in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Auto Express recently had an interview with Ford’s European design boss Martin Smith who suggested that a concept would be unveiled in Detroit.

“Our plan was always to get the basic Ford product line-up successful,” he said. “Now we have done that, we can start to build more exciting products – and we’ll show how we’re going to do this at Detroit.”

An industry insider claims that Ford’s designers have been hard at work on the Focus coupe concept. The concept will based off the Focus ST and will have the same 247-hp turbocharged 2.0L under the hood. It will also be front wheel drive, but will have a wider track than the Focus ST.
