Cadillac Convertible in the Works, Will Slot Between the ATS and CTS

Cadillac’s last convertible, the XLR ended production in 2009 and who doesn’t remember the Allanté convertible from the early 1990’s? Well it looks like Cadillac is working on a new 2012_cadillac_cts_grille.jpg convertible and this time it won’t be an expensive convertible out of reach to most buyers. This time Cadillac is working on a convertible that will start at a much lower price point and that will be based on the upcoming Alpha platform, which is the basis for the 2013 ATS sedan and next-generation CTS.

Instead of just developing a droptop version of either the ATS or CTS, Cadillac is going to position the convertible between both models and give it unique styling. Unlike the BMW 3 Series and Lexus IS convertibles, the upcoming Cadillac convertible will have a softtop like the Audi A5.

Expect the new Cadillac convertible to launch in late 2013 as a 2014 model.
