Honda has announced that the 2017 Civic EX-T sedan and coupe models are now available with a six-speed manual transmission.
When the all-new 2016 Honda Civic was unveiled last year, enthusiasts loved the fact that Honda finally added some “sport” back to the non-Si Civic models with the new turbocharged model. The turbo was great, but the bad part was that it was only available with a non-sporty CVT, but now for 2017 you can get the turbocharged Civic models with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The EX-T trim levels of the Civic sedan and coupe now come standard with the manual transmission. The manual models also have a tiny bit more torque at 167 lb-ft, which is five more than the CVT equipped model. No matter which transmission you choose, the Civic EX-T sedan and coupe models will have 174-hp thanks to the turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder. You’ll notice that the new Civic Hatchback hasn’t been discussed, that’s because it comes standard with the 174-hp turbocharged engine and if you choose the Sport or Sport Touring that number goes up slightly to 180 horsepower.
Sadly if you want a higher trim level for the sedan or coupe, you’ll be stuck with the CVT, since the EX-L and Touring are only available with the CVT.
