Diesel fans won’t be able to walk into a VW dealer anymore to buy a diesel powered car, but that doesn’t mean that diesels are dead. Several automakers still offer them and Chevy has announced that its new Cruze diesel sedan has received a 52 mpg highway rating.

The 2017 Cruze Diesel sedan is powered by a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder can be mated to either a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.

The six-speed manual version is rated at 30 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway. If you choose the nine-speed automatic, the specs are 47 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg city.

Pricing for the 2017 Cruze Diesel sedan starts at $24,670. The Cruze hatchback will also get the diesel engine, but not until the 2018 model year.
