MINI has released the pricing for the 2016 Clubman, which will start at $24,950 for the base Cooper model, while the Cooper S version starts at $28,500. Compared to the last Clubman, the 2016 Clubman is now bigger with two full size rear doors, bringing the total number of doors to six.
The new Clubman is both longer and wider than the previous model, making it the most spacious and versatile MINI model year. Buyers can choose from a turbocharged 134-hp 1.5L three-cylinder engine or a turbocharged 189-hp 2.0L four-cylinder. The 1.5L can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.0L gets either a six-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. The base Clubman Cooper will reach 60 mph in 8.9 seconds, while the Cooper S model does it in 6.9 seconds.
The Clubman comes standard with the MINI Connected infotainment system with a 6.5-inch display, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition and automatic headlights. The 2016 Clubman will go on sale in January.
“The premium quality and value of the new MINI Clubman will set the standard for the premium compact segment going forward,” said Patrick McKenna, Department Head, Product Planning & Events, MINI USA. “MINI defined the premium small car segment with the relaunch of the Hardtop back in 2002 and the new Clubman will help us redefine the notion of “premium” with nearly bespoke levels of customization.”
