It’s been expected for a while that the IS would get the same turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine as the NX 200t crossover. The IS 200t has 241 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque, which is significantly better than the old 2.5L six-cylinder that only had 204-hp and 185 lb-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The IS 200t is only available with rear-wheel-drive, so to replace the IS 250 AWD, the IS 300 AWD is being introduced with a detuned version of the IS 350’s 3.5L V6 with 255-hp and 236 lb-ft. of torque. The IS 350’s 3.5L V6 generates 306 horsepower and 277 lb-ft. of torque.

Other updates to the 2016 IS includes a new Premium Plus Package that adds a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers. A heated steering wheel is also now available and the IS 350 now comes standard with 18-inch five-spoke wheels. The 2016 IS is also available with the pre-emptive Pre-Collision System that includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a standard Auto Location Tire Pressure Warning System.
