Toyota is giving the 2015 Toyota Camry an extensive midlife redesign that Toyota says is “more expressive and athletic.” Responding to criticism that the current Camry is bland and boring, Toyota gave its best selling sedan a completely new look with almost 2,000 new parts.

The 2015 Camry is 1.8-inches longer and its track has been widened by 0.4-inches to give it a more dynamic stance. The front fascia gets a completely new fascia that is “FR-S Inspired” and that also looks very similar to the Avalon. A more pronounced body line also makes the Camry’s profile look more muscular with a “sense of motion.” It’s rear is also completely new with taillights that look similar to the Corolla’s.

To make the Camry a bit more fun to drive, Toyota’s engineers retuned the Camary’s electric power steering for better on-center feel, better straight line stability and more direct-feeling steering inputs. It’s stiffer body structure combined with a retuned suspension and revised brakes should also help make it a tad more interesting on the road. The Camry will continue to be available with 2.5-liter four-cylinder or 3.5-liter V6 gas engines paired with 6-speed automatic transmissions, or a 2.5-liter Atkinson Cycle engine with Hybrid Synergy drive matched to an E-CVT.
