Despite earlier reports that claimed that Maserati’s upcoming Levante SUV would share its platform with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Maserati CEO Harald Wester has revealed that the reports are not accurate. Instead the 2015 Levante is going to be built on the same platform as the Quattroporte and Ghibli models.
When the Levante SUV was first confirmed it was also announced that it would share its platform with the Jeep and that it would even be built in Michigan alongside the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. Now the 2015 Levante will be produced in Italy instead and will borrow the all-wheel-drive system and Skyhook suspension from the Quattroporte. Although it hasn’t been confirmed we can also expect the Levante to use the same powertrains as the Quattroporte.

Production of the 2015 Levante is expected to kick off later this year.
