2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Officially Unveiled With Up To 577-HP

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, which gets a refreshed exterior, all-wheel-drive and a new S-Model.

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, which gets a refreshed exterior, all-wheel-drive and a new S-Model. The E63 AMG is still available in sedan and wagon versions and is powered by a 5.5-liter AMG V8 Biturbo with 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft. of torque that is mated to a seven-speed automatic. The new S model bumps the power figures up to 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz has also announced that the CLS63 is also available as an S model.

Mercedes-Benz was able to squeeze out even more power from the 5.5L V8 thanks to The increase in performance and power is made possible by modifications to the engine management system, an increase in the peak injection pressure and a hike in maximum boost pressure from 13.0 to 14.5 psi. The S-Model of the E63 AMG 4MATIC reaches 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph. In addition to the power increase, the performance-oriented AMG all-wheel-drive system 4MATIC has a power distribution of 33 to 67 percent (front/rear axle).

To keep all the power under control the E63 AMG comes with an AMG high-performance brake system. Vented and cross-drilled brake 14.2-inch discs are fitted front and rear. Brake calipers painted silver with white AMG lettering and six pistons (front) and four pistons (rear) provide responsive, fade-resistant deceleration and shortest stopping distances. The S-Model can be additionally identified by red brake calipers. AMG carbon ceramic high-performance brakes are available as an option exclusively on the S-Model.

The Mercedes-Benz 2014 E63 AMG will arrive in showrooms this summer.
