2014 Mazda6 Arrives With a Diesel in the US

Mazda has confirmed that the all-new 2014 Mazda6 will be offered with a diesel engine in the U.S.

Mazda has confirmed that the all-new 2014 Mazda6 will be offered with a diesel engine in the U.S. The 2014 Mazda6 sedan will go on sale in January 2013 and will be powered by Mazda’s new Skyactiv 2.5L four-cylinder engine, with a diesel engine arriving in the second half of 2013.

The SKYACTIV-G 2.5L will generate 184 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 185 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. Mazda has not released the performance specs for the 2.2L Skyactiv-D clean diesel engine are not yet available. The 2014 Mazda6 also will be the first production vehicle to feature Mazda’s capacitor-based brake energy regeneration system called i-ELOOP. i-ELOOP is the world’s first capacitor-based brake energy regeneration system to provide power to all the electrical mechanisms in a vehicle.
