2014 BMW i3 EV to be Priced Around $40k

The BMW i3 will also be offered with an optional two-cylinder, 0.65-liter gasoline engine and an auxiliary generator that will charge the battery, but Willisch did not provide any details on how much that version will cost.

It’s expected that the fully electric version of the BMW i3 will qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit and BMW is still waiting to find out if the range-extender version will also qualify for the same credit.

The five-door BMW i3 will arrive this fall and will be followed by the i8 sports car next spring.
