Yesterday Chrysler gave us our first official look at the 2013 Dodge Dart compact sedan. Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne stated when the photos were released that Chrysler expects the Dart to get at least 40 mpg.

The 2013 Dodge Dart will be powered by three engines, a 2.0L and 2.4L engine as well as a small 1.4L turbocharged engine. Initially the Dart will get a Fiat-sourced 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, but in 2013 a new 9-speed transmission will be available. The 9-speed transmission is expected to increase the Dart’s fuel efficiency by 10 to 16 percent over the 6-speed transmission.

The 2013 Dodge Dart will be officially unveiled next month in Detroit.
