GM is moving up the launch date of the next-gen 2013 Chevy Malibu to early 2012, which is about four months earlier than was originally planned. GM originally planned on launching the all-new Malibu in mid-2012, but CEO Dan Akerson wanted the launch date pushed forward, according to GM spokesman Dave Darovitz.
“Mr. Akerson requested we study the program to see if we can move quicker and faster,” Darovitz said.
The 2013 Chevy Malibu will be GM’s first global midsize car and will be sold in over 100 countries. It will be officially unveiled later this month at the Shanghai and New York auto shows.
