The 2013 Acura RDX was also unveiled in concept form last month, just like the ILX compact sedan. And just like the 2013 ILX, the production version of the 2013 RDX crossover is debuting this week in Chicago.

The second-generation 2013 Acura RDX has grown up a bit with more “sophisticated” styling and a new engine, transmission and all-wheel-drive system. The 2013 RDX now rides on a longer wheelbase and has a wider track and lower center of gravity than the last model. Under the hood the old 2.3L turbocharged engine has been replaced by a 3.5L V6 that has 33 more horsepower at 273-hp. The 3.5L V6 is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can choose from front-wheel-drive or a new, lighter all-wheel-drive system. Front-wheel-drive models will get an estimated 20/28 mpg, while all-wheel-drive RDX models get 19/27 mpg.

The 2013 RDX now has larger door openings, more passenger room, increased cargo volume and an available power rear tailgate. It also comes standard with Pandora internet radio, an SMS text message feature, pushbutton start, and a three view rear camera. The Technology Package adds Acura’s ELS Surround audio system, a navigation system with real-time traffic rerouting and the AcuraLink satellite communication system.
