In the U.S. we only get sedan and coupe versions of the Honda Civic and while our Civic debuted this spring, Honda has yet to debut the European version of the Civic, which gets a more versatile hatchback design.

The 2012 Honda Civic hatchback is having its world debut this week in Frankfurt. From these photos it looks like our friends in Europe will get a much better looking Civic than we get here. According to Honda, “the designers of the new Civic wanted to keep the sporty and advanced elements of the car’s character but tailor them to communicate the new model’s more dynamic feel.” Honda claims that the new Civic also draws inspiration from a ‘blended wing body’ airplane in which the fuselage and wings blend into a single body for superior aerodynamic performance.

Honda hasn’t announced the official specs for the 2012 Civic, that will debut tomorrow. It is expected to be released in early 2012.
