2008 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen Appeals to the Boring Crowd!

The 2008 VW Jetta SportWagen has been unveiled today at the New York Auto Show. The new wagon version of the popular Jetta will be offered with three engine configurations, a 2.5L five-cylinder, the 2.0T four-cylinder and a 2.0L diesel engine.

The 2.5L has been upgraded and now produces 170hp, up from 150hp. The main plus with the wagon is that it offers 32.8 cubic ft of storage space and 66.9 cubic ft with the rear seat folded down. There is also an optional fold-flat front passenger seat that aides with loading long items. A panoramic sunroof is also a new option.

I’m surprised that they brought this here, considering that the last Jetta wagon performed so poorly. The rear-end styling of this car looks like it is missing something and nothing like a typical VW. Very boring… This must have been what the new VW design chief had in mind when he said that the company has "lost its way."
