Lexus unveiled the high-performance version of the Lexus IS back in January, but the automaker remained tight lipped about the actual power figures of the V8 powered sedan. Well the official launch of the IS-F in Japan has finally revealed what we have been waiting months to hear.

The 5.0L V8 under the hood in the Lexus IS-F puts out 417 horsepower and 372 lb-ft of torque. This aims it squarely at the BMW M3 and Audi RS4. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that is based on the transmission in the Lexus LS460. The modified transmission features a new “M” mode that allows for faster acceleration in first gear while eliminating any possible damage.

The IS-F also receives suspension and brake upgrades as well as new 19 inch wheels. The top speed is expected to be above 185 mph and Lexus expects to sell 5,000 of these a year in the US.

The IS-F will go on sale on 12/25/2007 in Japan for ¥7,600,000 or $65,170.00 USD when converted.
