Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser sketch of the next-generation Sprinter commercial van, which is going to arrive in the first half of 2018. The van was teased at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta.

The new Sprinter will get a more stylish exterior with a new design that embodies emotion and intelligence. Mercedes-Benz describes the new Sprinter’s face as being more distinctive and athletic. Besides the more aggressive styling, the next-generation Sprinter will arrive with new driver assistance systems and connectivity services.

“We want to do more than just build the best vehicles. We want to offer the most suitable mobility solution for every sector and for every transport assignment. And that is precisely our focus with the upcoming Sprinter generation as an overall system solution. It also goes without saying that the new edition of our iconic van possesses the classical attributes of reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness,” Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said at the NACV show.

The other big news is that the next Sprinter will be built at a new plant in North Charleston, South Carolina. The United States is the second-largest market for the Sprinter after Germany, so to meet the high demand for North American customers, the Sprinter will now be produced here. In addition to production in South Carolina, Mercedes-Benz will continue to build the Sprinter at its German production sites Dusseldorf and Ludwigsfelde.
