The microchip shortage continues to wreak havoc on the automotive industry with shortages of vehicles being built and even some new models being delayed. Well we have our latest victim, since it’s being reported that the next-generation Lexus LX has been delayed due to the microchip shortage.

Dealer sources revealed the news to Japan’s Creative Trend. The new LX was expected to debut in late 2021 before it arrives in 2022, but now it’s not known how long it will be delayed.

The same report also claims that the LX’s base trim level will still be powered by the current 5.7-liter V8. There were other reports that claimed that it would ditch the V8 and instead get the new Land Cruiser’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6.

A hybrid version, called the LX 750h is also rumored. It will be powered by a hybrid powertrain with the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6.

Stay tuned.
