Kia is giving us a preview of its future electric vehicles with the debut of the Futuron electric SUV concept at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai. According to Kia, “the Futuron name itself is a portmanteau of ‘future’ and ‘on’, hinting at the switched-on, electric nature of future SUV designs from the brand.”

The design of the Futuron focuses on dynamic purity, since it merges elegant proportions with pure shapes and surfaces. Underneath the sculpted exterior, there’s a fully-electric all-wheel drive powertrain. The sleek exterior of the Futuron is actually larger than it looks at 191-inches long with a 118-inch-long wheelbase, which makes it larger than the Kia Sorento, but at only 61-inches tall, it’s much sleeker.

Thanks to the electric powertrain and low mounted battery, the Futuron’s interior is spacious and flexible. The concept also features Level 4 autonomous driving technology, which also opens up the design of the interior.
