Jeep recently introduced the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and if you’ve been wondering if the Gladiator will also get the PHEV powertrain, we now have your answer. Yes.

Jeep boss Christian Meunier recently told Australian publication Go Auto “for sure” when asked if an electrified Gladiator is coming. It’s expected that the Gladiator 4xe will get the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the Wrangler, since they are closely related.

The Wrangler 4xe is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It generates 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Wrangler 4xe can also travel up to 25 miles in electric mode.

It’s not known exactly when we’ll see the Jeep Gladiator 4xe, but it could happen later this year.
