2018 Jeep Wrangler JL to get 368-hp 2.0L Turbo

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Leak

We’re finally getting close to the debut of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler and we already know that the Wrangler will initially be offered with a V6, turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder and a 3.0L diesel. Now a leaked document has revealed how much power each engine will generate.

JL Wrangler Forums has found a document that FCA sent over to NHTSA that confirms how much power will be under the hood. The Pentastar 3.6L V6 will generate a respectable 285 horsepower, but the bigger news is about the four-cylinder. The 2.0L four-cylinder will actually generate more power than the V6 with a nice 368 horsepower. The document did not reveal the specs for the 3.0L V6 diesel engine.

At least for now, the four-cylinder will only be offered in the next-generation Jeep Wrangler, while the V6 is offered in several Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models.

Production of the new Jeep Wrangler will kick off sometime next month, but the first models will only be the four-door hardtop with the V6. The 2.0L Wrangler and two-door Wrangler will reportedly not enter production until the first quarter of 2018.

We’ll hopefully see the next-generation Jeep Wrangler debut at the upcoming 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
