Well this was already rumored last month when the first photos of the unmasked RWD Genesis coupe surfaced, but now Hyundai has confirmed that the Genesis will be offered with a turbocharged 4-cylinder .

A naturally aspirated V6 is going to also be offered in addition to the turbocharged 4-cylinder. It looks like the V8 from the Genesis sedan is not going to be offered at least initially in the coupe. The turbocharged engine is being developed under the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance, which is a joint venture between Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Chrysler. Hyundai’s U.S. product development chief, John Krafcik, told the Automotive News that the turbos that are being developed will eventually be offered in other Hyundai vehicles.

Krafcik also stated that a separate FWD coupe is in the works that will replace the current Tiburon, although no timeline was given.
