It’s being reported that between the 2016 and 2018 model years, Hyundai and Kia are going to introduce four hybrids, two plug-in hybrids and an electric car in the U.S.
With the exception of the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima hybrids and the Kia Soul EV, Hyundai and Kia haven’t really played very much in the “green” segment, but that’s about to change. It’s being reported that between the 2016 and 2018 model years, Hyundai and Kia are going to introduce four hybrids, two plug-in hybrids and an electric car in the U.S.
For the 2016 model year, Hyundai has already released the Sonata Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, in addition to the arrival of the fuel-cell Tucson earlier this year. By 2017 both Hyundai and Kia will introduce dedicated hybrid models that will go head to head with the popular Prius. The dedicated hybrids are expected to share their platform with the next-generation Hyundai Elantra and Kia Forte.

Kia already has the fully electric Soul, so Hyundai is expected to get a fully electric model for the 2017 model year.
