80% of Hyundai Vehicles Sold in the US Will be Built in the U.S., by Next Year

By this time next year Hyundai si slated to build about 80% of the vehicles it sells in the US, in the US. By building 80% of its vehicles in the US, Hyundai will likely end up building a higher percentage of its vehicles in the US than even Detroit’s automakers.

Hyundai Motor America chief John Krafcik told CNNMoney “I’m going to build my three best selling cars in the U.S. Ford builds its best selling car in Mexico.” Currently the Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe are built in Alabama and later this year Hyundai plans on moving production of its third best-selling model, the Elantra to the same plant.
