2017 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid details released

Hyundai is about to take on the Toyota Prius with the 2017 Ioniq, which will be offered in electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid versions. The first version to go on sale will be the standard hybrid, which will be powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder and an electric motor.

Hyundai is about to take on the Toyota Prius with the 2017 Ioniq, which will be offered in electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid versions. The first version to go on sale will be the standard hybrid, which will be powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder and an electric motor.
The 1.6L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder generates 104 horsepower, while the electric motor adds another 46 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain also uses a lithium-ion polymer battery and the power is sent to the wheels via a dual-clutch transmission.

The Ioniq is built on an all-new chassis that is 53% Advanced High Strength Steel combined with lightweight aluminum. The Ioniq’s hood, tailgate and suspension are also made from aluminum to save weight.
