The electric motor gets its power from a lithium-polymer battery pack with a capacity of 1.62 kWh, 13.3 percent higher than the previous Sonata Hybrid. The battery pack has also been repositioned under the floor of the trunk, which will make the trunk more usable. The new Sonata Hybrid will also be offered in a plug-in hybrid version for the first time, which should have an electric driving range around 18 miles at speeds up to 75 mph.
