General Motors may add a small crossover to the GMC lineup. The new crossover would be smaller than the current GMC Terrain according to Duncan Aldred, Vice President of Buick and GMC.
“To me, there is more room for SUVs in the GMC stable,” Aldred told Automotive News during a test drive of the redesigned 2018 Terrain. “An obvious place for GMC to be if it expands is that small SUV segment.”
Aldred didn’t give any other details about the small crossover, but did state that it wouldn’t rival the Jeep Wrangler. Instead he shot down any ideas of GMC going after the iconic off-roader.
“I don’t think it’s worth trying to take on Wrangler. But I think there’s an opportunity somewhere in that space.”
A small GMC crossover would give the brand a rival to the growing number of small crossovers, like the Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR.
