Last month Ford revealed the updates to the 2019 Ford Transit Connect and now we have the debut of the work-ready 2019 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van. Just like the passenger version, the 2019 Transit Connect Cargo Van gets several upgrades, but the biggest is the addition of a new optional 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine.

The Transit Connect Cargo Van is the best-selling compact cargo van in America with a commanding 46 percent market share, so obviously Ford wants to keep it there. The Transit Connect’s 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine now makes it the only model in its segment to offer a diesel. The 1.5L engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and is expected to get at least 30 mpg on the highway.

If you want a gasoline powered version, there’s anew 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with Auto Start-Stop that is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. For fleets, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic and CNG/propane gaseous fuel prep package is also available. The Transit Connect can also tow up to 2,000 pounds when paired with the available tow package.
