A few months ago Ford unveiled the updated 2019 Ford Fusion before it announced that it would be killing it off in a few years. Even with Ford deciding to keep the Fusion until at least 2020, it might have a harder time selling it, since the 2019 Fusion is getting quite a price hike.
According to Cars Direct, the 2019 Ford Fusion is up to $6,190 more expensive than the 2018 model. To simply the Fusion lineup, Ford has decided to reduce the number of trim options and bundle more equipment than before, which means that the base prices are going up.
The 2019 Ford Fusion S starts at $23,735, which is $645 more than the 2018 Fusion S. The Fusion SE’s price rises $650 and now starts at $25,015. As you move up the range the pricing jumps even higher. The 2019 Fusion Titanium is priced at $35,235, a whopping $3,870 price increase. The top 2019 Fusion Sport gets the largest increase of $6,190 and now starts at $40,910.
If you’re looking at the hybrid or plug-in hybrid Fusion models, they too are getting a price increase. The Fusion Hybrid SE starts at $28,450, which is $1,235 more expensive. The base Fusion Hybrid S has also been discontinued. The Fusion Energi Plug-in now starts at $37,490, which equates to $2,215 increase.
One of the reasons for the price increase is that all 2019 Fusion models now come standard with Co-Pilot360, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information system, lane keeping system, rear backup camera and auto high-beam lighting.
Higher trim levels also received more equipment, which is why the price has jumped so much. For example the 2019 Fusion Titanium now comes standard with a moonroof, adaptive cruise control, navigation and 19-inch wheels. If you were to add all those options to a 2018 Fusion Titanium, the price would be close to $37,000, compared to only $35,235 for the 2019 model.
