Garmin has announced that it will be showing off its new infotainment system next week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and its even released a teaser of its new system. While an infotainment system is nothing to get too excited about, what is interesting is the teaser clearly shows the infotainment system in a new Volvo interior. Could this be a preview of the interior of the 2020 S60/ V60?

Volvo hasn’t announced anything, but a quick look at the teaser easily reveals that we’re looking at the interior of a future Volvo. The center mounted touchscreen is nearly identical to the system in models, like the new XC60, plus in the teaser video you can see that the steering wheel is clearly from a Volvo.

The new Garmin scalable infotainment platform features Alexa integration, which works directly with the on-board navigation and media player software. Drivers can easily select their destination with the Alexa hands-free voice service and then have it automatically synced to turn-by-turn navigation from Garmin. Garmin also uses the infotainment platform for Wireless Rear Seat Navigation and Entertainment. Rear seat passengers will be able to use a tablet or smartphone to see the vehicle’s route, search points of interest, and even send destinations to the head unit. Users can also stream media content from the infotainment system to their device via Wi-Fi.

“Garmin’s scalable infotainment platform offers a level of performance and design that consumers expect from consumer electronics but have never seen in OEM infotainment,” said Kip Dondlinger, Garmin automotive OEM manager of product and user experience. “The new platform provides adaptable hardware and software for infotainment head units that suit specific OEM needs at the mid- and high-end levels of the market.”

We’ll have to wait and see if this is in fact the interior of the 2020 Volvo S60 sedan and V60 wagon. Both models are expected to debut sometime in 2019.
