Last week Cadillac unveiled a new twin-turbocharged V8 that will power the 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport and while there was some speculation that the Corvette could borrow the engine, it’s not going to happen. Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen revealed that the Chevy Corvette will not be getting the new V8.
“Just quit the speculation it’s headed for Corvette. It’s not,” he told Autoblog at the New York Auto Show.
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport is powered by a 4.2L V8 that generates 550 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. of torque. The rumors started circulating about the Chevy Corvette, since the V8 is actually made at the same Bowling Green, Kentucky factory as the Corvette. To kill any other rumors about the engine, de Nysschen also revealed that the engine will only be offered in the Cadillac lineup.
A slightly less powerful version of the engine with 500 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. will be offered in other Cadillac models, but we’re not sure which model will get it next.
