Chevy has released more details about the 2019 Chevy Silverado’s engine lineup, which includes six engine/ transmission combinations. The big news is the addition of a new turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder and the 3.0L six-cylinder turbo diesel engine.

2019 Chevy Silverado

The 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 will a choice of three V8 engines, the new turbocharged four-cylinder, a 4.3L V6 and the 3.0L six-cylinder diesel engine. The 4.3L V6 will be the standard engine on the Custom and Work Truck versions of the Silverado 1500, while the new 2.7L will be the standard engine on the LT and RST trim levels.

The 4.3L V6 generates 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft. of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.7L turbocharged four-cylinder generates more power than the base V6 with 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft. and it is mated to an eight-speed automatic. The updated 5.3L V-8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft., while the 6.2L generates 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft. The 5.3L V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic, while the 6.2L gets a 10-speed automatic transmission. Lastly the 3.0L inline-six cylinder is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, but Chevy has yet to announce the specs. The diesel engine will arrive in early 2019.

2019 Chevy Silverado

The first 2019 Silverado 1500 models to roll off the production line will be the crew-cab V-8 models starting in the third quarter of this year. In the fourth quarter, production will expand to include regular- and double-cab models, as well as V-6 and 2.7L Turbo engines.
