Four years ago Cadillac moved its headquarters from Detroit to New York City, but now it looks like that experiment is over. Cadillac President Steve Carlisle has confirmed that he’s moving the brand’s headquarters back to Detroit, Michigan.

In a recent interview, Carlisle confirmed that the brand would be moving back to Detroit, “We’ve got to think about how we take inefficiencies out of the communication process between the Cadillac team and the GM partners.”

It looks like this decision was made fast, since earlier this year, Cadillac reaffirmed its plans to stay in New York City after former Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen was replaced by Carlisle.

It’s not known when Cadillac will officially close its offices in New York.
