Sales of the Buick LaCrosse are abysmal with GM currently having a 204 day supply of inventory of the full size sedan, but the LaCrosse isn’t done yet. Buick is reportedly gearing up to expand its new luxury Avenir sub-brand to the LaCrosse lineup in 2018.
GM’s 2018 Vehicle Identification Number Decoder was recently submitted to NHTSA late last month, revealing some key updates to the 2018 LaCrosse lineup. GM Inside News was able to nab the info, revealing that the LaCrosse Avenir will be offered in both front and all-wheel-drive versions. The Buick LaCrosse Avenir will likely be powered by GM’s 3.6-liter V6 and its nine-speed automatic transmission.
It was only a few months ago that Buick announced the release of the Avenir sub-brand with the debut of the Buick Enclave Avenir. Expect the LaCrosse Avenir to get many of the same upgrades with Evonik Acrylite LED lights and a new three-dimensional grille and unique wheels. The interior will get new color options, embroidered front headrests, a wood-trimmed steering wheel and Avenir branded door sills.
On the tech front, the Buick LaCrosse Avenir will be offered with a long list of safety technologies, like adaptive cruise control, forward automatic braking, rear cross traffic alert, pedestrian baking, lane keep and departure, a vibrating safety seat, and 360-degree surround vision. Apple CarPlay, wireless charging for your cell phone and an 8-inch infotainment system will also be added.
Since Buick has yet to announce the LaCrosse Avenir, we can only speculate that the pricing will start around $45,000.
