The 3.0L diesel in the Audi A8 50 TDI quattro generates 286 hp and 442.5 lb-ft. of torque. The 3.0L diesel reaches 62 mph in 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Its fuel consumption is just 5.8 to 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers on the New European Driving Cycle (40.6-42.0 US mpg).

The 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine in the Audi A8 55 TFSI quattro generates 340 hp and 368 lb-ft. of torque. With the 3.0L gas engine, the A8 takes 5.6 seconds to reach 60 mph and the A8 L takes 5.7 seconds. Fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is between 7.8 and 7.5 liters (30.2-31.4 US mpg) for both versions.

Both versions feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that enables coasting with the engine switched off. The system also has an extended start/stop function and a high recuperation output of up to 12 kW thanks to energy recovered during braking.

If you’re in Germany you’ll get the new A8 in November. The new A8 will arrive in the U.S. in the first half of 2018 as a 2019 model.
